MAKE SUMMER UNSTOPPABLE
COVID-19 RESPONSE - WHAT EVENT ATTENDEES CAN EXPECT
We’ve always taken the health and safety of our event organisers and participants seriously. While NZ remains in the COVID-19 alert level system, Bayleys Whanganui Vintage Weekend 2021 event organisers will be following event operating guidelines as set out in the Event Sector Voluntary Code to ensure we are all doing our bit to keep everyone safe and to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Our event organisers are required to develop and implement their own health and safety measures as per existing legal obligations. You can expect to scan/sign in at all events and attractions you visit, and follow basic hygiene measures. If conditions about numbers and distancing cannot be met to the satisfaction of public health, then the event, or parts of it, will be cancelled.
Remember, if you are feeling unwell stay and home and call Healthline (for free) on 0800 358 5453 or your health care provider if you think you have symptoms of COVID-19.
BAYLEYS WHANGANUI VINTAGE WEEKEND UNDER ALERT LEVEL 1
At Alert Level 1, there are no physical distancing requirements or limits on the number of people who can attend social gatherings or events. As an event attendee, you must scan/sign in to each event or attraction that you visit. All event sites legally must display the government's official QR code. Some events, such as the Mainstreet Caboodle, Billy Webb Challenge, Riverside Shindig and Plumber Dan Soap Box Derby do not have a single point of entry - please look out for sign in areas throughout.
BAYLEYS WHANGANUI VINTAGE WEEKEND UNDER ALERT LEVEL 2
At Alert Level 2, event facilities can operate with up to 100 people within any defined space. Our event and attraction organisers are prepared to adapt their facility and offering, for operating under Alert Level 2. People must be able to maintain 1 metre physical distancing. This could mean the facility needs to have fewer than 100 people in a defined space.
As an event attendee, you legally must keep 1 metre physical distance from people you don't know, where possible – if you can't, consider wearing a face covering. You must scan or sign in to each event or attraction that you visit. All event sites legally must display the government's official QR code.
Under Alert Level 2, the following events will be cancelled: Vintage Social (Friday), Mainstreet Caboodle and Wheels on Victoria (Saturday), Riverside Shindig (Sunday), Plumber Dan Soap Box Derby (Monday). The following headlining events will still be held, operating under Level 2 guidelines: Retro Market (Saturday) Vintage Fair (Saturday and Sunday), Billy Webb Challenge (Sunday), Vintage Car Club Burma Rally (Sunday) and Bruce’s Anniversary Day Run (Monday).
Changes to supporting events / attractions will be advised if necessary before the event kicks off on 22 January.
Please Note - if you are gathering and mingling, or if you are in a space with unrecorded people (e.g. walking down the street to an event or waiting at a bus stop), then the recommendation is to stay 2m apart.
